Appointment Policy
Bay Area Bird Hospital provides specialized veterinary care for birds, reptiles, rabbits, rodents, ferrets and small exotic mammals. We operate by appointment only; please call us to schedule.
If you have an emergency, an advance phone call will help us be prepared for your pet's arrival. We make every effort to see patients at their scheduled time. However, life threatening emergencies can disrupt our appointment schedule and cause unavoidable delays.
If your pet has been under the care of another veterinarian, advance preparation helps make the most of your appointment time. Please have your records faxed to us and request that any xrays be sent by courier. We should receive these at least one day prior to your appointment so our doctors have time to review them. Also, please bring with you any medications and supplements your pet is currently taking.
Payment Policy
We require full payment at the time of service and deposits for hospitalized patients. Acceptable forms of payment include Visa, MasterCard, cash, personal checks and Care Credit. If you require financing, we recommend you apply for Care Credit online prior to your visit - please click on the CareCredit image below to access their website.
Patient Arrival Policy
We request that your pet be confined to a cage or carrier at all times during the hospital visit. This is necessary for the safety of both patients and clients as well as the sanitation of our environment.
You will be asked to fill out forms about yourself and your pet prior to your appointment. It can save time if these forms are filled out in advance and faxed to us. Forms can be found here.
Grooming Procedures and Boarding
We perform wing, nail and beak trims on established patients who have been examined at this hospital within one year. If your pet is not an established patient, please call to schedule an exam and any necessary grooming procedures can be done at that time, health permitting.
Boarding services are provided only for established patients with medical needs. This includes pets who are currently under treatment or at risk for illness. We also board for dietary conversion and for West Nile Virus Quarantine prior to entering Hawaii.
We regret that space limitations prevent us from boarding healthy pets for routine reasons.
